Shoot the People is an intimate and urgent portrait of the Oscar-nominated documentarian Misan Harriman.Renowned for his wide-ranging work including powerful breakthrough images from the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests and capturing the Palestinian liberation movement on film, Harriman also made history as the first Black man to photograph a British Vogue cover.
Over the past decades, more than 100,000 Thai workers have fallen victim to human trafficking networks — suffering losses worth tens of billions of baht (about $305 million).
This documentary is the result of three years of data collection and fieldwork by The Isaan Record, an independent media organization, telling the stories of workers trafficked to the Berry Forests of Finland and Sweden, where many were exploited and treated as slaves.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with Hathairat Phalholtap, the film's director and editor-in-chief of the Isaan Record.
